my ym! client, pidgin, stopped working last night. blame it on vista’s updates. after googling the issue, i’ve found this fix: map scs.msg.yahoo.com manually to 66.163.181.166 in your etc/hosts file (both windows and linux)

actually that’s not needed and is a bad solution as yahoo changes IPs a lot. here is a better option.
Go to Pidgin > Tools > Accounts, than click on your Yahoo account and then “Modify”. On the Advanced tab, “Pager server” field enter either:
cs101.msg.mud.yahoo.com
or:
cs102.msg.mud.yahoo.com
or:
scsc.msg.yahoo.com
Then login again, now everything should be fine.

thanks. didn’t check to much for it as i was a little pissed off with vista updates. i tried scsc.msg.yahoo.com but no luck. i will also try the other two hosts. i know this is a temporary solution but i was searching for a quick fix. thanks again.
